Abdominal and Pelvic Scars

Most people are not referred to physical therapy after abdominal or pelvic surgeries, including cesareans and fibroid removal surgeries. Abdominal scars have multiple layers of adhesions that grab and hold onto the tissues around it. This immobility can eventually cause pain.

Mobilizing the scar soon after surgery allows for best results. However, even a scar that is 10+ years old can respond well to mobilization techniques.
